Il termine melograno deriva dall’unione del termine latini malum (mela) e granatum (con semi). La forma del melograno è molto simile a quella della mela, ma differisce da quest’ultima in quanto all’interno presenta numerosi chicchi dal gusto acidulo, denominati arilli.
